On Saturday 15th February thirteen ladies, two facilitators and our tutor braved Storm Dennis to meet at Breckland hall, Costessey for a workshop entitled ‘Block Party – Patchwork Illusions’.

Block party - Using templates

Our blocks assembled

Our tutor “AitchBee” (aka Helen Butcher) had a great display of her work and started by showing how, by using Foundation Paper Piecing, you can create complex blocks from simpler shapes. Her instructions were clear to follow and she had a good tip for starting with templates to save on fabric too

Everyone seemed to have a good time and our facilitators – Rebecca and Trisha – kept us topped up with tea and biscuits. By the end of the day, when we all laid our work out on the table, it was interesting to compare the different colours we had used and we were all amazed at how the 3D effect of the cubes was starting to take shape.

Our thanks to Rebecca and Trisha for a most enjoyable day.
